Disability Program Navigator Navigating through the myriad of programs that impact your ability to return to work can be a nightmare, and knowing how employment can impact your current benefits is complex. Fear of losing cash assistance and health benefits can often discourage people with disabilities from working. The Department of Labor (DOL) and the Social Security Administration (SSA) have jointly established this new position, within DOL’s One-Stop Career Centers. The Disability Program Navigator is available now at Southeast Los Angeles County Workforce Investment Board (SELACO WIB) to assist with obtaining quality career services. What do Navigator’s do? Provide seamless and comprehensive services to persons with disabilities. Assist individuals to secure and access services and supports needed to obtain and maintain employment. Troubleshoot problem areas, conduct outreach to underserved groups. The Navigator gives referrals on resources, including linkages to specific services within the community as well as facilitates appropriate referrals within the Workforce Center and to Community Partners. Disability Program Navigators will assist you with accurate information; appropriate referral; and will guide you to goal attainment. The Navigator also has an interest in the youth. The Navigator provides opportunities for in-school and out-of-school youth with disabilities to secure employment and economic self-sufficiency. More importantly, the Navigator develops linkages and collaborates with employers to facilitate job placement for persons with disabilities SELACO WIB’s Navigator can be reached for information or appointment.
